We have some reminders on upcoming deadlines and also new great opportunities for you to check out. Furthermore, we are very pleased to report that you can find a new page on the website of the Office of the Dean of Research Studies informing about doctoral students who are honored and awarded. On December 7th, Barbara Wolfram will be honored by the Federal Ministry of Education, Science and Research for her dissertation "Moving The Needle. Depiction and Representation of Gender and Diversity in Austrian Feature Films from 1997 to 2017" with the Award of Excellence 2022/23 - our warmest congratulations!


☞ Dissertant:innen Kolleg

The Doctoral Candidates' College, "Dissertant:innenkolleg", serves the academic discourse within the circle of mdw's PhD candidates. The two colleges 01 and 02 take place in the form of a joint public event. The participants have the opportunity to give a public presentation on the progress of their dissertation projects. To participate as a listener contact stdw@mdw.ac.at. The college will be held online via Zoom on 30th of Novmeber 2023.


Workshop on Proposal Writing in Artistic Research – PEEK

In cooperation with the Research Support and the Artistic Research Center, the Center for Continuing Education offers a workshop on proposal writing for the FWF-program PEEK on December 1st 2023. Registration for the workshop is open here.

GO.INVESTIGATIO

The Austrian Academy of Sciences (ÖAW) awards grants for library, archive and field research stays outside Austria which are necessary for preparing scientific papers or publications or for drafting external funding applications. Submissions are invited from researchers in the humanities and cultural studies, deadline: December 5th 2023.

 

☞ Marietta Blau-Grant

The Marietta Blau-Grant (OeAD) offers financial support for doctoral/PhD students currently enrolled at an Austrian accredited university who want to spend 6 to 12 months abroad with the intent to optimise their thesis. Applicants must pursue their PhD studies in Austria.The OeAD provides information on submission in an online webinar in English on Thursday, December 7th, 14:30-16:30 p.m. Deadline for grant application: February 1st 2024.


☞ LBG Winter School 2024

Our cooperation partner, the Career Center of the Ludwig Boltzmann Gesellschaft, organizes the Winter School "Revise & Revitalize". It offers pre- and post-doc researchers the opportunity to learn the fundamentals of scientific writing and presentation in a productive and supportive atmosphere. The program will take place from February 19th-24th 2024. Application is open for junior and senior researchers affiliated with an Austrian research organization or university working on English-language dissertations or journal articles. Apply until December 10th 2023.


Herta & Kurt Blaukopf Award

The application phase for the Herta & Kurt Blaukopf Award for outstanding dissertations at the mdw is open now. For the third time, the Research Support of the mdw – University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna announces this award that serves to highlight extraordinary achievements in the context of academic doctoral studies and to support early stage researchers in their subsequent academic careers. Deadline: January 12th 2024.


☞ Call for Doctoral Artist-Researchers

Open call for musicians with an outstanding artistic record, with strong research skills, and transdisciplinary interests. Orpheus Instituut is looking for artistic researchers who are interested in joining a three year research cluster. A limited number of part-time research assistantships at Orpheus Instituut in Genf will be available. Find more information on the clusters and the application process on their website. The deadline for the docARTES application is January 15th 2024. The program itself will start in September 2024.
