We hope all of you have started the new semester with a lot of energy. The fall offers several opportunities for early-stage researchers and we would like to encourage you to apply for calls that are interesting for you.

Extended Deadline

The deadline for the SYLFF Grant has been extended to October 25th. PhD students who are already in the research phase and Dr. Artium students who are in the focus phase have the opportunity to apply for a SYLFF Grants from the Tokyo Foundation. The Ryoichi Sasakawa Young Leaders Fellowship Fund (SYLFF), is a fellowship programme to support students pursuing graduate studies in the humanities and social sciences. Post-Doc Fellowship

The mdw advertises post-doc fellowships which aim at supporting early-stage researchers after completing their doctorate studies. The fellowships are open to early-stage researchers from all disciplines who plan on submitting a proposal under the ESPRIT programme of the FWF or other post-doc funding programmes, or who plan on re-submitting such a proposal which has been evaluated for example as “approved-but-not-funded”.

Join the Doctoral Session

Mdw's Doctoral Session will take place online in the winter semester of 2022 on 10-11 November 2022. It serves the scientific discourse within the circle of doctoral candidates. You are welcome to attend, listen, and learn about other dissertation projects. If you would like to participate, please send an e-mail to: stdw@mdw.ac.at

Further Opportunities

There are some deadlines coming up that we would like to point out:

"Like Science to your Ears - How do I make my own science podcast?“ invites early-stage researchers at the mdw from all academic disciplines (in their PhD studies or up to 5 years after graduation) to apply for a podcast workshop. They are looking for concepts (1-3 pages) for the first podcast episode (10-15 minutes), which is to be produced during the workshop. If required, the programme can be held in English, please let them know when registering. The workshop will take place on November 28th, January 16th and March 24th. Applications are open until 23rd October 2022 via e-mail: zethner@mdw.ac.at

The mentoring training "Reach higher reach beyond“ is a several-month career development programme for pre- and postdoc researchers at the mdw. It aims to provide support to women, inter* and non-binary individuals in the strategic planning of their academic careers. The Programme is composed of four elements: a skills training, one-to-one mentoring, coaching and a peer group. The deadline for applications is 12th December 2022.

We wish everyone a productive semester.
