Performing Challenges: Solidarities
June 16 - 18, 2025 | mdw-campus#Gender Studies #Lecture Series
At this year’s Gender Lecture Series, organized as a symposium at the International Research Center – Gender and Performativity (ICGP), Performing Challenges, the focus is on questions regarding the conditions, potentials, challenges, and practices of solidarity—understood as solidarity that can certainly be conflictual and challenging, but which is grounded in the premise of mutual interdependence in a shared world. Against the backdrop of current social struggles and lines of conflict, we engage with trans- and queer-feminist theoretical, artistic, and activist explorations of performative practices of solidarity. The focus is on approaches from the fields of music, theater/performance, dance, film, and media art/social media. The symposium will take place (largely) in English, with content preparation and follow-up provided in an accompanying German-language workshop. It brings together theoretical and artistic approaches to collectively reflect on the political dimension of the performative and the performative dimension of political practices.
