December 9, 2025: 2 - 6 pm | Seminar Room E0101, IKM (Building E)#workshop

All mdw students and other interested parties are warmly invited to attend the public workshop Racialised Structures of Reproductive Knowledge by Zimitri Erasmus.

Content
What can we learn from Global South perspectives about the concept of ‘articulation’ at the intersection of studies on gender and performativity? The workshop Racialised Structures of Reproductive Knowledge on December 9 offers an introduction to Stuart Hall’s interpretation of Antonio Gramsci’s concept of ‘articulation’ particularly with regard to the cultural interconnections of ‘race’ , gender, and class.

The workshop is a follow up to the block seminar entitled Gender Studies: Articulations with ‘Race’. Students who participated in that course will present their understandings of Stuart Hall’s concept ‘articulation’. They will illustrate their understandings with examples provided in the Block Seminar. These presentations will orient participants who were not part of the block seminar.

The workshop is led by Ass. Prof. Zimitri Erasmus (University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg), who is serving as guest professor at the ICGP for the winter semester 2025/26.
