Mag.a Edith Christine Schwarzbauer, Librarian
schwarzbauer@mdw.ac.at
Edith Schwarzbauer, born and raised in Bad Ischl, moved to Vienna after graduating from high school to study Russian and Spanish language and literature with a view to becoming a teacher. After completing her studies, she worked at LEFÖ (an organisation run by and for migrants, founded by Latin American women in exile) and in the export industry. She became interested in librarianship while she was still a student, which is why she later completed the university course Library and Information Studies at the Austrian National Library during a period of educational leave. She has always had a connection to music, which has always been an important part of her life, whether as a child playing the piano or as an adult singing in a choir.
Since February 2024, Ms Schwarzbauer has been a librarian on the team at the "small but excellent library of the Department of Voice and Musical Theatre". What she particularly appreciates about her job is the good working atmosphere and the friendly interaction with students and teachers – both at the institute and at the mdw in general.
