Born in Gdańsk/Poland, where he graduated from the Music Academy in the piano class of Prof. Waldemar Wojtal. He currently lives and works in Vienna, where he studied at the mdw – University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna in 2003–2008 with Univ.-Prof. David Lutz and at the Conservatory of the Vienna University of Music under the direction of Kristin Okerlund.
He has also performed as a piano accompanist on Polish and foreign stages. Furthermore he has performed on the stages of the opera houses and philharmonic orchestras of Bydgoszcz, Jelenia Góra/Poland, Istanbul, Ljubljana, Sofia, Bucharest, Tbilisi, Kishinev, Tel Aviv , Skopje, Zagreb and Dubrovnik.
Koziel has accompanied Polish entertainers and opera singers (Andrzej Hiolski, Łucja Prus, Danuta Błażejczyk, Jerzy Połomski, Aneta Łastik, Agnieszka Fatyga, Hanka Bielicka), as well as foreign stars (Daniela Fally, Angelika Kirchschlager, Malin Hartelius, Matjaz Robavs).
His ability has been sought at numerous vocal competitions in the Nowa Sącz (Ada Sari Festival), Athens (Maria Callas Competition), Zwickau (Robert Schumann Competition), Vienna (Belvedere Competition), Bydgoszcz (Ignacy Paderewski Competition) and often rewarded.
He works with well-known vocal pedagogues, such as with Prof. Helena Łazarska, Francisco Araiza, Prof. Gerhard Kahry and Prof. Rudolf Piernay, and accompanies numerous vocal courses in Salzburg, Melk, Krakow, Lubostroń, Lübeck, Warsaw and London.
As an accompanist and music director, he was involved in the productions of Die Zauberflöte by W. A. Mozart, L'enfant et les sortilèges by M. Ravel (Theatrical Accent, Vienna, 2006), The Old Maid and The Thief by C. Menotti (Osnabrück, 2006), Iphigenie auf Tauris by C. W. Gluck (Stadttheater Wien, 2007), Die Fledermaus by J. Strauss (Y. Menuhin Festival, Gstaad, 2008 and Comödie Theater, Nuremberg, 2009), Der Prinz von Homburg by H. W. Henze (Theater an der Wien, Elektra by R. Strauss (Staatsoper Warsaw, 2010) and Jakob Lenz by W. Rihm (Warsaw 2011), Medeamaterial by P. Dusapin (Warsaw 2012) and Premiere by T. Schulze (Theater an der Wien 2012).
Ever since his childhood he was interested in singing. He trained his voice with Halina Mickiewiczówna and Helena Łazarska. He performed singing recitals, amongst others. in Cappella Gedanensis and in the Music Theater in Gdynia. Since 2003, he has been working closely with the vocal ensemble of the Schleswig Holstein Festival, with whom he has participated in numerous projects in Europe, South America and Asia.
From March 2010 to October 2014 he became Senior Lecturer at the Department of Vocal Studies and Music Theatre at the mdw – University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna. Since August 2015 he has been a musical director at the Theater an der Wien.
From October 2015 he will work as a Senior Lecturer for solo and class repetition at the Department of Vocal Studies and Music Theatre.
