Exilarte Anniversary 2026
The Exilarte Centre is celebrating its double anniversary in 2026 with a comprehensive annual programme – 20 years of the exil.arte association and ten years of the Exilarte Centre. Since its founding in 2006, the exil.arte association – known since 2016 as the Exilarte Centre at the mdw – University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna – has developed into one of the world's leading institutions for the rediscovery, preservation and reintegration of music that was suppressed or silenced by National Socialism. What began with a memorial concert for Alma Rosé has developed over the course of almost two decades into a multifaceted programme of concerts, exhibitions, conferences, publications and archive development.

On the occasion of Human Rights Day, the mdw – University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna is showing the documentary film Toni and Rosi about the sisters Antonie (Toni) and Rosa (Rosi) Grünschlag, who were expelled from the mdw during the Nazi era but later celebrated great success as a piano duo in the USA.
Workshop on provenance research at the mdw – University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna

From 2025, provenance research is to be given more attention at the mdw; the workshop served to prepare a research project and to exchange experiences.
