We hope you had a good start into the new year. 2024 brings many new opportunities for funding, education and networking. For those who are spontaneous, applying to the ifk for a Junior Fellowship could be interesting. If you want to connect with other researchers at the mdw, you should definitely go to this year's "Klausur der Wissenschaften", and if you are planning a research trip this year, we can warmly recommend the International Mobility Grant for Early-stage researchers.

 

ifk Junior Fellowship

The ifk Junior Fellowship is for doctoral candidates with Austrian citizenship or non-Austrian doctoral candidates who are supervised at Austrian universities.

The dissertation project must be an interdisciplinary research project from the humanities and social sciences and/or the arts that makes use of questions and methods from the cultural studies. Application is open until  28 January 2024.


International Mobility for Early-stage Researchers

The mdw offers International Mobility grants for short stays abroad that serve a dissertation, a research project or the active participation in an international conference. Eligible expenses include: travel expenses, accommodation costs, visa costs, fees for library use, conference fees, etc. The application consists of a form including your documents. Please send your applications by e-mail to forschungsfoerderung@mdw.ac.at.

Applications should be submitted at least 6 weeks before the start of the journey. The submission is continuously possible.


Klausur der Wissenschaften 2024

The Research Conclave (Klausur der Wissenschaften, short KdW) has established itself as a cross-departmental and cross-disciplinary event for researchers at the mdw. They are once again looking forward to the participation of researchers of all career stages from all disciplines and fields of research represented at the mdw, at 1 March 2024You can find their programme here. To participate, please follow this link, and register until 19 February 2024.


☞ Theodor Körner Fonds

The Theodor Körner Fund is promoting young academics and artists projects in progress. The submitted project must have already been started but not completed before the end of the respective application year. The prize is endowed with € 5,000 and is awarded for outstanding projects in the fields of scientific research, art, literature and composition. In addition, the development of research designs, which are to serve as the basis for competitive application procedures (FWF or at least equivalent), is supported too.

Applications can be submitted until 31 March 2024 in German and English exclusively via their web portal.


17. Forschungspreis Integration

The Austrian Integration Fund (ÖIF) awards a research prize for completed bachelor's, diploma/master's theses and dissertations in the field of integration of migrants and refugees. If you completed your studies at an Austrian university no more than two years ago and your work focuses on the topics of integration and migration, you can apply for the award until 31 December 2024. 


ERASMUS+ Intensive Course - Good Scientific Practice

The intensive course Good Scientific Practice introduces to the most important aspects related to Good Scientific Practice (GSP): EU standards, confirmation biases, critical thinking, hierarchy and communication in science, values and dealing with publication pressure. The Course will take place in Muenster, Germany from 17 till 19 July 2024 and is suited for doctoral candidates and Postdocs who are employed at mdw. You will have to apply to the mdw's Erasmus+ programme.
