Summer not only offers the possibility for some well-earned time off, but also for exciting summer schools and other opportunities. We are pleased to announce that one of mdw's PhD-Candidates was chosen for the LEAD_able summer school of our collaboration partner, the Career Center of the Ludwig Boltzmann Gesellschaft (LBG). Further, the Graduate Center enabled a few selected PhD-Candidates to participate in the Career Cake Programme of LBG during the next months. We are delighted that the offers of this collaboration are so well received.


 IFK Research Fellowship

IFK_Research Fellowships are designed to support post-doctoral scholars early in their careers. Applicants must have a Doctorate or a Ph.D. at the time of application. The Fellowships include an expense allowance of max. € 2.325,- per month as well as a workplace at the IFK with EDP and internet access for one academic semester. Application open until 26th of June 2023.

JKU Summer School

The JKU Summer School „Future Proof Research Skills. Interdisciplinary PhD-Summer Training” is a two-day Summer School programme which aims to facilitate communication and networking opportunities across research fields and institutional divides. You will participate in three workshops on the topics writing, speaking and researching. Furthermore there will be time to network and connect to other PhD students. There is no cost or fee to attend and it is possible to receive funding for travel costs and accomodation by the mdw. If you are interested contact open until 30th of June 2023.

☞ We are looking for Doc-Buddies

The Graduate Center is looking for new Doc-Buddies. The programme is designed to help new doctoral students arrive at the mdw and to welcome them during their first weeks at their new university. Doc-Buddies are contact persons for new doctoral students, introduce them to other doctoral students, show them around campus and other important places in the area, and help them get off to a good start. If you are interested in becoming a buddy or need more information, please contact Lea Rizzi Ladinser to apply. Application open until 31st of July 2023.

isa Science 2023

isaScience is mdw’s international conference for interdisciplinary research on music and performing arts. The programme on this year's topic "Sonic Ties: Rethinking Communities and Collectives" is out now. isaScience 2023 will take place at Hotel Marienhof in Reichenau/Rax as well as online from 26th to 30th of August 2023. A shuttle service from the train station at Payerbach-Reichenau to the conference venue is available free of charge.

☞ FORIM Conference

We are pleased to invite you to the 12th conference of the research network "Implicit Knowledge" (FORIM) with the theme "Leib und Sinne - Corporeity and Sensuality". The event will take place on Friday 29th and Saturday 30th of September in the spiel|mach|t|raum (Anton-von-Webern-Platz 1,1030 Vienna, building S, 2nd floor). The access is barrier-free and the conference will be held in German.
