The IKM is part of DIE VIELEN in Austria – an alliance for an open society and its democratic organisation in respect, diversity and tolerance.
DIE VIELEN is a pluralistic assembly which combines many different interests. Living together in a democracy must be renegotiated every day: It is about everyone, about each individual. They understand art and culture and their institutions as open spaces – spaces that allow diversity and ambiguity to be experienced.
DIE VIELEN stands for diversity and freedom of art. Anyone who polemicises against it, who endangers the diversity of structures and organisations in the art and cultural sector, who intervenes in artistic programmes, who seeks to exert pressure on content by threatening to cut subsidies or by cancelling them, who disrupts events, who incites against art and cultural actors or works on a renationalisation of culture, is contradicting this social vision and the democratic basic right to artistic freedom.
