Women's Leadership in Music: Modes, Legacies, Alliances

Book Launch at IKM mdw

On September 25th 2023 at 12.00, the launch of the book "Women's Leadership in Music: Modes, Legacies, Alliances" will be hosted at the Department of Cultural Management and Gender Studies IKM of mdw - University for Music and Performing Arts Vienna.

The book is a new issue of TRANSCRIPT - Independent Academic Publishing in their series devoted to Music and Sound Culture and is available open access on the website of the publisher.

The book will be presented by both editors who will join us in Vienna for this occasion: Dr Iva Nenić, Assistant Professor at the Department of Ethnomusicology of the Faculty of Music, University of Arts in Belgrade, Principal Investigator of the recently finalized project funded by the Science Fund of the Republic of Serbia "Female Leadership in Music” and Dr Linda Cimardi, Principal Investigator of the DFG-funded project "Black Musics in the Region of (Former) Yugoslavia" based at the Martin Luther University Halle Wittenberg.

In the role of a discussant there will be Dr Anja Brunner, Assistant Professor in Ethnomusicology and Principal Investigator of the FWF-Project Elise Richter: "Women Musicians from Syria: Performance, Networks, Belonging/s", Music & Minorities Research Center, mdw.

The event will be hybrid with online participation via Zoom and live streaming and in English language.
