Rosa Reitsamer is Professor of Music Sociology at the Department of Music Sociology at mdw. She holds a PhD in sociology. Her research interests include music labour markets and career trajectories of DJs, rock/pop and classically trained musicians; the learning and evaluation cultures at music conservatories; youth sociology, do-it-yourself cultures and popular music; popular music histories and heritage formations, and popular music and gender. In her research she employs qualitative and ethnographic methods and draws upon a wide range of mainly sociological approaches, including practice theory, theories on tacit knowledge and materiality, and gender and critically race theories. She has published numerous book chapters and articles in the journal such as “Popular Music and Society”, “Cultural Society” and “Dancecult”.
