PREPARING THE LEARNING AGREEMENT
The mdw - University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna offers a large number of different studies. For exchange students, the mdw provides a specific selection of courses to choose from. To prepare your Learning Agreement, please primarily choose your courses from the Courses for Exchange Students
GERMAN SKILLS - GERMAN COURSE
- Generally, all classes at the mdw are TAUGHT IN GERMAN!
A language certificate is not required, but we strongly recommend at least basic German language skills! For the attendance of all scientific/theory classes, B2 level is advised.
- German Language Competence Course mdw (level A.1.1 and B.1.2)
Places can't be guaranteed in advance - all students have to attend a placement test in advance (Registration required!)
- German Course on the Learning Agreement
The German language competence course can not be used for the (Online) Learning agreement since places can't be guaranteed in advance. In case you are able to attend the German course you can add it to the "(Online) Learning Agreement during Mobility".
Ensemble Classes (Chamber Music/Early Music/Contemporary Music/Collegium musicum)
Audition Chamber Music & Contemporary Music: TBA
Audition Early Music /Collegium Musicum: please look up the class in mdw online for further information.
Exchange students should only register for the classes 25.7000 Collegium musicum 01 or 25.7003 Collegium musicum 02
- Attending the audition
Places can't be guaranteed in advance - all students have to attend an audition at the beginning of the semester.
- Ensemble Classes on the Learning Agreement
Ensemble classes can not be used for the (Online) Learning agreement since places can't be guaranteed in advance. In case you are able to attend a course you can add it to the "(Online) Learning Agreement during Mobility".
There is a difference between Orchestra 1, 2, 3, 4 (=general Orchestra Course) and Orchestra 5, 6, 7, 8 (=Orchestra production and projects) - Places for these orchestra projects can't be guaranteed in advance! To clarify, please mention the specific number in your Learning Agreement! More information
