GOTTFRIED JOHANNES POKORNY, chamber music
Gottfried J. Pokorny is a solo bassoonist of the Tonkünstler Orchestra of Lower Austria and a teacher of wind chamber music at the University of Music and Performing Arts. Formerly, he played with the Bruckner Orchestra of Linz and the Vienna Symphony Orchestra, and he also taught at the J. M. Hauer Conservatory in Wiener Neustadt. His teachers and master course instructors included K. Oehlberger, D. Zeman, D. Damiano, M. Turkovic and M. Werba. Pokorny is a founding member of the Vienna-based wind octet Collegiate and the Vienna Zemlinsky Quintet, and has made numerous radio and CD recordings and given both bassoon and chamber music master classes. He has participated in concerts and tours under such conductors as S. Vegh, N. Harnoncourt, G. Pretre, Z. Mehta, C. Abbado, R. Muti, Sir G. Solti, Sir S. Rattle, M. Jansons.
