{"id":2961,"date":"2025-01-30T10:53:02","date_gmt":"2025-01-30T10:53:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.mdw.ac.at\/ar_center\/?p=2961"},"modified":"2025-03-25T11:23:30","modified_gmt":"2025-03-25T11:23:30","slug":"trans-bodied-knowledge-goes-to-world-expo-japan","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.mdw.ac.at\/ar_center\/2025\/01\/30\/trans-bodied-knowledge-goes-to-world-expo-japan\/","title":{"rendered":"\u2018Trans-bodied Knowledge\u2019 goes to World Expo Japan"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>[vc_row][vc_column width=&#8221;2\/3&#8243;][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<div dir=\"auto\">\n<div dir=\"auto\">\n<div dir=\"auto\">\n<p>The interdisciplinary teaching process, initiated by Christos Marantos (lecturer for piano in the ike mdw and artistic doctorate candidate in ARC mdw) between mdw and TU Wien, which discusses the topic of encouraging haptic design experiences in the digital age was selected to be exhibited, as an innovative education project, in the Austrian pavilion at the Expo 2025 in Osaka, Japan.<\/p>\n<p>Under the theme &#8220;Designing Future Society for Our Lives&#8221;, the Austrian Paivilion aims to communicate its ideas for &#8216;Composing the Future&#8217; at the international Expo in 2025 in Osaka, Japan. Therefore, 140 innovative products and projects from Austrian companies, institutions and universities were submitted in the \u201cCall for Innovations\u201d organized by the Austrian Chamber of Commerce (Wirtschaftskammer \u00d6sterreich).<\/p>\n<p>Within this framework, Christos&#8217; project was selected to be presented in the category of &#8216;Research and Education&#8217; pushing towards the Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) of &#8216;High quality education&#8217;. From April to October 2025, a total of over 28 million visitors, 161 participating countries and 9 international organizations are expected to attend the Expo, where the discussed education project will be presenting, in the form of a video, the teaching process of the &#8216;Artistic project K: From Space to Wearables\u2019, which took place in the summer semester 2024.<\/p>\n<div dir=\"auto\">\n<p>In the interdisciplinary context of synergizing artistic and scientific processes and within the framework of the artistic research project \u2018Trans-bodied Knowledge\u2019 funded by the FWF and led by Efilena Baseta, the above teaching was a collaboration between TU Wien\/ Institute of Art and Design\/ Research Unit of Three-Dimensional Design and Model Making and the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna (mdw)\/ Department of Composition Studies and Music production.<\/p>\n<p>This interdisciplinary teaching has been possible through a diverse teaching team:<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">Teaching staff\/Research team:<\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div dir=\"auto\">Efilena Baseta &#8211;
