Georg Nussbaumer (*1964 in Linz, Austria) is considered a virtuoso ‚Gesamtkunstwerker‘ whose works move between composition, installation art, performance and theater. Large-scale scenic works, which constitute multi-layered pictorial sound spaces and tie thematic and motivic stylistic devices together into a bigger picture, are juxtaposed with reduced sound installations or even non-sounding processes, which often deal with music, its history and effect, and ultimately with its production. He works with highly specialized performers and musicians as naturally as with gum-chewing audiences, with archers, apnoea divers, a motorcycle club, or hundreds of singers from rural amateur choirs.

His works have been realized by/at: Donaueschinger Musiktage | Steirischer Herbst | Nationaltheater Mannheim | Berliner Festspiele – Maerzmusik | Schaubühne Berlin | call&response London | happy days Oslo | Villa Aurora Los Angeles | Théatre Kléber-Méleau Lausanne | Bregenz Festival | soundscape Vilnius | Ring Festival Los Angeles | radialsystem Berlin | Opera Dagen Rotterdam | sophiensaele Berlin | Kunstfest Weimar | operadhoy Madrid | Teatr-e Shahr Tehran | rainy days Luxembourg | Theater Basel | Wien Modern | Gasteig München | Supergau Salzburg
