Der Sammelband widmet sich einem breiten Spektrum von Performances aus verschiedenen Genres und Stilrichtungen, darunter auch solche, die über die Bühne hinausgehen. Ziel ist es, die Beziehungen zwischen Musik, ihrer Körperlichkeit und bewegten Körpern in der künstlerischen Praxis zu diskutieren. Damit reagiert er auf eine theoretische Herausforderung: Musik als unsichtbare, aber hörbare Bewegung aus der Perspektive der Wahrnehmung und auf der Grundlage sichtbarer Bewegungen zu konzeptualisieren, die inszeniert, choreografiert oder improvisiert werden können.

‘Per aures ad animum’: The Harpsichord in the Sixteenth Century II: Italy

Der Sammelband beleuchtet ein breites Spektrum an Themen rund um Tasteninstrumente mit Zupftechnik und Tastenmusik im 16. Jahrhundert, wobei ein besonderer Schwerpunkt auf Italien und dessen tiefgreifendem Einfluss auf die europäische Tastenkultur liegt. Die Beiträge befassen sich mit Fragen der Notation, des Instrumentenbaus, der Musiktheorie und der Ikonografie sowie mit der kulturellen und sozialen Rolle von Tasteninstrumenten und deren Aufführung. Der Band vereint Beiträge und Vorträge mit musikalischen Darbietungen einer Konferenz, die 2024 in Bologna stattfand, und knüpft an „Universum rei harmonicae concentum absolvunt“: Das Cembalo im 16. Jahrhundert (mdwPress 2024) an.

Soeben ist die Sonderausgabe "Digitalisierung in musikpädagogischen Handlungsfeldern" der Beiträge empirischer Musikpädagogik erschienen (Bd. 18 Nr. 1 (2026)). Die  sechs  Beiträge  der Sonderausgabe rekonstruieren  auf  Basis  unterschiedlicher Datengrundlagen, theoretischer Ausgangspunkte  und  methodischer  Herangehensweisen die Perspektiven von Lehrkräften auf die digitale Transformation  von  Schule  und  Unterricht  und dokumentieren die vielfältigen Spannungsfelder und  Herausforderungen,  mit  denen  die  Lehrkräfte selbst konfrontiert sind und die für die Entwicklung von Aus-und Fortbildungsmaßnahmen berücksichtigt werden müssen.

How are music/sound and dance/movement interwoven in artistic processes? What kinds of models can be identified when studying the relations between them, and which aesthetic intentions correspond to them? Based on these questions, the contributors to this volume map a wide range of performances from different genres and styles, including those that transcend the stage. The aim is to discuss relationships between music, its physicality, and moving bodies in artistic practice. In doing so, they respond to a theoretical challenge: to conceptualize music as an invisible but audible motion from the perspective of perception and on the basis of visible movements that can be staged, choreographed, or improvised.

This volume examines a broad spectrum of topics concerning plucked keyboard instruments and keyboard music in the sixteenth century, with a particular focus on Italy and its profound influence on European keyboard culture. Contributions address issues of notation, instrument building, music theory, iconography, as well as the cultural and social roles of keyboard instruments and performance. Bringing together papers and lecture-recitals from a conference held in Bologna in 2024, the volume follows up on ‘Universum rei harmonicae concentum absolvunt‘: The harpsichord in the Sixteenth Century (mdwPress 2024).

The special issue “Digitalization in Fields of Music Education” of Beiträge empirischer Musikpädagogik has just been published (Vol. 18, No. 1 (2026)). The six articles in this special issue reconstruct, based on diverse data sources, theoretical starting points, and methodological approaches, reconstruct teachers’ perspectives on the digital transformation of schools and instruction, and document the diverse areas of tension and challenges that teachers themselves face and that must be taken into account in the development of training and continuing education programs.
