Congratulations!
The mdw doctoral scholarship supports outstanding dissertations at the mdw - University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna. ☞ Invitation: Vienna Postdoc Career Day
The Vienna Postdoc Career Day is an initiative by the University of Vienna, in cooperation with the LBG Career Center and a partner network of universities and research organisations. The goal is to promote the careers of researchers in Austria, both within and beyond academia. All sessions are open to and free of charge for all postdocs from Austrian universities & research organisations. Register for one or multiple sessions by 9 November.

☞ LBG Winter School 2026
The 6-day Winter School provides pre- and post-doc researchers with the opportunity to learn the fundamentals of scientific writing and presentation in a productive and supportive environment. The program is composed of 3 days of input on academic writing, presentations and healthy working, followed by a 3-day writing retreat. Writing & revitalize coaching sessions, fireside evenings and peer exchange complement the Winter School. The LBG Career Center covers the costs of the Winter School, including participants’ meals and hotel costs (excluding alcoholic beverages and travel costs to and from Vienna). ☞ IFK Junior Fellowships
The IFK Junior Fellowship is open to young Austrian and non-Austrian doctoral students who are being supervised at an Austrian university. The dissertation project must be an interdisciplinary undertaking in the humanities, social sciences or arts, addressing the study of culture(s) and its issues and methods. Applications are open until 25 January 2026.

The Austrian Academy of Sciences (ÖAW) awards travel grants for research stays outside Austria that are necessary for preparing scientific papers or publications, or for drafting applications for external funding.
Applications are invited from researchers in the humanities and cultural studies
- who have received their most recent academic degree (Mag./MA or Dr/PhD) within the las five years,
- who are studying for a doctoral degree/PhD or who are working as a (senior) researcher at a university or non-university research institution in Austria, and
- who have a specific project that requires a (research) stay outside Austria
The application deadline is 5 December 2025.
