Wir laden Sie herzlich ein, mit Ihrem Beitrag bei der Langen Nacht der Forschung 2026 dabei zu sein!

Die Lange Nacht der Forschung ist die größte Veranstaltung zur Wissenschaftsvermittlung in Österreich und findet alle zwei Jahre statt. Nach der erfolgreichen Durchführung im Mai 2024 am mdw-Campus, werden wir auch 2026 den Campus öffnen: am 24.04.2026 ab 17 Uhr.

Zielgruppen der LNF sind in erster Linie Kinder, Jugendliche und Familien aber auch Nachbar:innen aus dem Grätzl, Studieninteressierte, Alumni oder Studierende anderer Universitäten, die einen Einblick in die Disziplinen an der mdw bekommen möchten. Mittels zielgruppenorientierter, dialogischer und partizipativer Formate kann gezeigt werden, womit sich Kunst und Forschung an der mdw beschäftigen. Im Zentrum steht der Austausch mit vielfältigen Zielgruppen.

Dabei stehen mehrere Optionen zur Auswahl, wobei sowohl neue Programmvorschläge als auch bereits bestehende Formate möglich sind:

• Beitrag von ca. 30 Minuten (beispielsweise ein Kurzvortrag, künstlerische und interaktive Beiträge, Screening)
• Station für die gesamte oder eine bestimmte Dauer während der LNF (digitale Ausstellung, Poster, Podcast-Station, App), die vor Ort betreut wird.
• Zusatzprogramm: Außerdem besteht die Möglichkeit, bereits am Vormittag Workshops für Schulklassen anzubieten (mit Voranmeldung).

Für das Programm stehen eine Reihe von Räumen zur Verfügung: Klangtheater, Arthouse Kino, mdw.ub Foyer und Lesesaal, Bankettsaal, Fanny Hensel- & Clara Schumann-Saal sowie der Sitzungssaal des Senats. Die Forschungsförderung übernimmt für diese Räume die Koordination der AV-Betreuung und Raumausstattung. Auch die eigenen Institutsräume können ggf. geöffnet werden.

Für PhD-Studierende besteht mit dem neuen Curriculum die Möglichkeit, den eigenen Beitrag zur LNF 26 im Wahlfachbereich mit 2-4 ECTS anrechnen zu lassen (siehe Katalog anrechenbarer Leistungen im neuen Curriculum: https://www.mdw.ac.at/upload/MDWeb/stdw/downloads/KataloganrechenbarerLeistungen_final.pdf )

Etwaige Kosten (z.B. Honorare, Materialkosten) sind im Rahmen des Budgets der betreffenden Organisationseinheit zu decken. In Einzelfällen ist eine Kofinanzierung durch die Forschungsförderung möglich. Bitte melden Sie sich diesbezüglich bis zum Ende der Einreichfrist.

Long Night of Research 2026 -

We cordially invite you to participate in the Long Night of Research 2026!

The Long Night of Research is the largest science communication event in Austria and takes place every two years. Following the successful event in May 2024 on the mdw campus, we will open the campus again in 2026: on 24 April 2026 from 5 p.m.

The target groups of the LNF are primarily children, young people and families, but also neighbours, prospective students, alumni or students from other universities who would like to gain an insight into the disciplines at the mdw. Target group-oriented, dialogical and participatory formats can be used to show what art and research at the mdw are all about. The focus is on exchange with diverse target groups.

There are several options to choose from, with both new programme proposals and existing formats possible:

• Contribution of approx. 30 minutes (e.g. a short lecture, artistic and interactive contributions, screening)
• Station for the entire duration or a specific period during the LNF (digital exhibition, poster, podcast station, app), which is supervised on site.
• Additional programme: There is also the option of offering workshops for school classes in the morning (advance registration required).

A number of rooms are available for the programme: Klangtheater, Arthouse Cinema, mdw.ub foyer and reading room, banquet hall, Fanny Hensel & Clara Schumann Hall and the Senate meeting room. The Research Support Office  will coordinate the AV support and room equipment for these rooms. The institute's own rooms can also be opened if necessary.

With the new curriculum, PhD students have the opportunity to have their own contribution to LNF 26 credited with 2-4 ECTS in the elective area (see catalogue of creditable achievements in the new curriculum: https://www.mdw.ac.at/upload/MDWeb/stdw/downloads/KataloganrechenbarerLeistungen_final.pdf ).

Any costs (e.g. fees, material costs) are to be covered by the budget of the relevant organisational unit. In individual cases, co-financing by the Research Support Office is possible. Please contact us about this by the end of the submission deadline.
