Symposium by Stephanie Schroedter
Dance Resonance – Artistic Attunement in Motion
Symposium of the Society for Dance Research (gtf), Vienna, 25–27 September 2025, in cooperation with the Artistic Research Center, Department of Music and Movement Education/Rhythmics at mdw, and the Institute for Theatre, Media, and Popular Culture at the University of Hildesheim.
The symposium will focus on resonance concepts in artistic-creative, performative (dance-based) contexts, exploring agency, transformation, and unavailability (cf. Hartmut Rosa’s Sociology of World Relations, 2016).
Three keynotes (Gabriele Klein, Andrea Amort, Darrel Toulon), almost 40 lectures, over 20 lecture performances, around 10 workshops, and 8 panel discussions will engage with multisensory, historical, ecological, queer, and de/postcolonial dimensions, including critical perspectives.
Venue: High baroque monastery, Rennweg 8 (3rd district), Vienna, next to the Belvedere Palace Gardens.
Conference fees: €30 (students), €50 (speakers), €100 (gtf members), €150 (non-members); free for members of mdw and University of Hildesheim.
Languages: German and English.

Symposium von Stephanie Schroedter
Dance Resonance – Artistic Attunement in Motion
Symposium der Gesellschaft für Tanzforschung (gtf), Wien, 25.–27. September 2025, in Kooperation mit dem Artistic Research Center, der Abteilung für Musik- und Bewegungspädagogik/Rhythmik der mdw sowie dem Institut für Theater, Medien und Populäre Kultur der Universität Hildesheim.
Das Symposium widmet sich Resonanz-Konzepten in künstlerisch-kreativen, insbesondere performativ-tänzerischen Kontexten. Im Fokus stehen Fragen nach Selbstwirksamkeit, Transformation und Unverfügbarkeit (vgl. Hartmut Rosa, Soziologie der Weltbeziehung, 2016).
Drei Keynotes (Gabriele Klein, Andrea Amort, Darrel Toulon), rund 40 Vorträge, über 20 Lecture Performances, etwa 10 Workshops und 8 Podiumsdiskussionen greifen multisensorische, historische, ökologische, queere und de-/postkoloniale Aspekte des Resonanzbegriffs auf und ermöglichen explizit kritische Perspektiven.
Veranstaltungsort: Hochbarocke Klosteranlage, Rennweg 8 (3. Bezirk), Wien, neben dem Schloss Belvedere.
Konferenzgebühr: 30 € (Studierende), 50 € (Referierende), 100 € (gtf-Mitglieder), 150 € (Nicht-Mitglieder); kostenfrei für Angehörige der mdw und der Universität Hildesheim.
Konferenzsprachen: Deutsch und Englisch.
