In den nächsten Wochen haben wir einige spannende Veranstaltungen am Institut für Volksmusikforschung und Ethnomusikologie.

Am Donnerstag, den 17. Oktober um 19:00 findet der Abschlussabend der Auslandsexkursion nach Frankreich statt, bei dem Studierende gesungene Tänze aus der Bretagne präsentieren. 

Am Freitag, den 18. Oktober um 19:00 gibt es eine Filmvorführung mit dem französischen Ethnomusikologen Yves Defrance über Musiken im brasilianischen Bundestaat Pernambuco im Rahmen der Veranstaltungsreihe Cinematographia Musicae Popularis (CiMPo) – Volksmusik im Film.

Nächste Woche gibt es noch zwei weitere Veranstaltungen mit Yves Defrance: am Donnerstag, den 24. Oktober um 19:00 einen Gastvortrag mit Filmvorführung und am Freitag, den 25. Oktober um 19:00 einen Workshop zu Singtänzen der Bretagne.

Außerdem möchten mir noch auf einige Veranstaltungen im November aufmerksam machen, die wir im nächsten Newsletter ausführlicher ankündigen werden:

Abschlussabend der Auslandsexkursion des IVE

Donnerstag, 17. Oktober, 19:00, Bankettsaal, mdw

Die von Rudolf Pietsch begründeten und von Ulrich Morgenstern weitergeführten Auslandsexkursionen des Instituts für Volksmusikforschung und Ethnomusikologie werden jährlich in Kooperation mit einem europäischen Gastland bzw. einer Gastregion durchgeführt. 2024 war dies die Bretagne mit Yves Defrance als Organisator und Leiter vor Ort.

Die Abschlussabende der Exkursion werden in weitgehender studentischen Eigenregie abgehalten und zeigen die jeweilige Exkursion in Wort, Bild und Film.

Raízes, musiques du Nordeste (Wurzeln, Musik des Nordostens) präsentiert die außergewöhnliche Vielfalt der Musiken im Brasilianischen Bundesstaat Pernambuco. Durch Vermittlung der Soziologin Lia Menezes (Recife) bietet Yves Defrance seltene Einblicke in die Welt des Karnevals in der Region mit seinen Akteur*innen sowie den zahlreichen Musik- und Tanzgattungen.

Yves Defrance: Singtänze in der Bretagne

Yves Defrance lehrt Ethnomusikologie am Centre for Breton and Celtic Studies der European University of Rennes. Seine Forschungsgebiete sind sowohl Afrika, Asien und die Amerikas wie auch europäische traditionelle Musik. Er ist Autor von Zeitschriften wie Musicologies (Paris, Sorbonne) und Cahiers d’Ethnomusicologie (Geneva) sowie, auch als Herausgeber, in den Publikationen des ICTMD vertreten. Zudem hat er 40 audiovisuelle Dokumentationen erstellt. Von 2006 bis 2009 war Yves Defrance Vorsitzender der Société française d'ethnomusicologie.

In the next few weeks, we have some exciting events at the Department of Folk Music Research and Ethnomusicology.

On Thursday, October 17 at 19:00 is the final presentation of the excursion to France, where students will present singing dances from Brittany.

On Friday, October 18 at 19:00 we host a film screening with the French ethnomusicologist Yves Defrance about music in the Brazilian state of Pernambuco as part of the event series Cinematographia Musicae Popularis (CiMPo) - Folk Music in Film.

Next week there will be two more events with Yves Defrance: on Thursday, October 24 at 19:00 a guest lecture with film screening and on Friday, October 25 at 19:00 a workshop on singing dances from Brittany.

Final presentation of the IVE excursion abroad

The Department of Folk Music Research and Ethnomusicology's international excursions (founded by Rudolf Pietsch and continued by Ulrich Morgenstern) are organized annually in cooperation with a European host country or region. In 2024, this was Brittany with Yves Defrance as the organizer and local leader.

The final evenings of the excursion are largely organized by the students and show the respective excursion in words, pictures and film.

Raízes, musiques du Nordeste (Roots, Music of the Northeast ) presents the extraordinary diversity of music in the Brazilian state of Pernambuco. Mediated by sociologist Lia Menezes (Recife), Yves Defrance offers rare insights into the world of carnival in the region with its actors and the numerous genres of music and dance.

Yves Defrance: Singing dances in Brittany

Yves Defrance teaches ethnomusicology at the Center for Breton and Celtic Studies at the European University of Rennes. His areas of research include Africa, Asia and the Americas as well as European traditional music. He is the author of journals such as Musicologies (Paris, Sorbonne) and Cahiers d'Ethnomusicologie (Geneva) and is also represented as an editor in the publications of the ICTMD. He has also produced 40 audiovisual documentaries. From 2006 to 2009, Yves Defrance was chairman of the Société française d'ethnomusicologie.
