Just in time for the start of the next semester, we have some reminders on upcoming deadlines and also new great opportunities for you to check out. We wish everyone a motivated and good start to the winter semester!

 

Workshop University Teaching at the mdw

Since early-stage researchers are often involved in university teaching, the Graduate Center has consulted with mwd's university didactics department to offer training in this area as well. Caroline Ebel, expert in university didactics, teacher in the field of music didactics, supervisor and coach, has developed a comprehensive programme: University didactics workshop on group teaching. The course is aimed at newcomers to university teaching and at teachers who would like to further develop their pedagogical expertise (in German only). Registration extended until October 3rd 2023.


☞ Feldman Travel Grants

Gerald D. Feldman Travel Grants support scholars in the qualifying phase for short research stays abroad, promoting cross-national research that gives new and original impetus to the humanities and social sciences. The stays (maximum one month per host country, a shorter stay is also possible) serve the purpose of research, especially in libraries or archives. Application deadline is October 6th 2023.


Mental Health and Well-Being in Academia

We are very glad to have Desiree Dickersona former postdoctoral researcher in the neurosciences and a clinical psychologist, to present a 2-day workshop from 16th-17th of November 2023 on the topic of Mental Health and Well Being in Academia. The workshop, organized by the Human Resources Development - Center for Further Education in cooperation with the Graduate Center, will focus specifically on early-stage researchers, addressing challenges such as stress, anxiety and burnout, as well as improving work-life balance. This workshop will be held in English, registration is open now.


☞ Call for Doctoral Artist-Researchers 2023

Open call for musicians with an outstanding artistic record, with strong research skills, and transdisciplinary interests. Orpheus Instituut is looking for artistic researchers who are interested in joining a three year research cluster. A limited number of part-time research assistantships at Orpheus Instituut in Genf will be available. Find more information on the clusters and the application process on their website. The deadline for the docARTES application is January 15th 2024. The programme itself will start in September 2024.


☞ LBG Winter School 2024

Our cooperation partner, the Career Center of the Ludwig Boltzmann Gesellschaft, organizes the Winter School "Revise & Revitalize". It offers pre- and post-doc researchers the opportunity to learn the fundamentals of scientific writing and presentation in a productive and supportive atmosphere. The programm will take place from February 19th-24th 2024. Application is open for junior and senior researchers affiliated with an Austrian research organization or university working on English-language dissertations or journal articles. Apply until December 10th 2023.
