MMRC News #17, November 2022 Liebe Abonnent*innen!Nach zwei erfolgreichen Ausgaben unserer jährlichen MMRC Lecture laden wir Sie nun herzlich zu „Listening to the Songs of Indigenous Lands. The 2022 MMRC Lecture“ am Freitag, den 25. November 2022, um 19:00 Uhr im Joseph Haydn-Saal der mdw – Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst Wien ein. Dylan Robinson, Associate Professor an der University of British Columbia und xwélmexw (Stó:lō/Skwah)-Künstler, -Kurator und -Autor, und Cheryl L'Hirondelle (Cree/Halfbreed; Deutsch/Polnisch), preisgekrönte Singer-Songwriterin und interdisziplinäre Künstlerin, werden unter Einbezug wissenschaftlicher und künstlerischer Ansätze die vielfältigen Dimensionen nordamerikanischer indigener Klangkunst erkunden. Thematisiert und zur Aufführung gebracht werden Werke von Raven Chacon, Rebecca Belmore und Tania Willard. Wir würden uns sehr über Ihr Interesse freuen. The 2022 MMRC Lecture,” on Friday, November 25, 2022, at 7:00 pm (CET) in Joseph Haydn Hall of mdw – University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna. Fusing scholarly and artistic approaches, Dylan Robinson, Associate Professor at the University of British Columbia in the School of Music, and a xwélmexw (Stó:lō/Skwah) artist, curator and writer, and Cheryl L'Hirondelle (Cree/Halfbreed; German/Polish), award-winning singer/songwriter and interdisciplinary artist, will explore the manifold dimensions of sound art by North American Indigenous artists and Indigenous song. The evening will feature works by Raven Chacon, Rebecca Belmore and Tania Willard. We would very much appreciate your interest. Participation is possible on-site or online via Zoom.
