mdw structured doctoral programme

Summer time is travel time

We start the summer break with sdp-news
For the moment, travelling and international mobility are possible again and this allows the doctoral students of the sdp to conduct research in the field and network with other scholars in person.

Juan Escobar Campos travelled to Mexico, where he participated in the Latin American and Caribbean Conference on Social Sciences, organized by the Latin American Council of Social Sciences (CLACSO) and the Doctoral Symposium held at the 16th International Conference on Arts and Cultural Management (AIMAC). He presented parts of his dissertation and received valuable feedback. Isabel Frey was conducting field research at the Yiddish Summer Weimar and in August she will take part in the Yiddish summer course in Berlin.

Sophie Zehetmayer will join the 8th Conference of the Royal Musical Association Music & Philosophy Study GroupÔÇ»at the Department of Music, King’s College, taking place in London from 7th-8th of July.

At the end of August most PhD candidates will be back in Austria to join the IsaScience, mdw’s international conference for interdisciplinary research on music and performing arts. Peter Lell will give a talk about materiality and learning of the Afghan rubab, and Isabel Frey will present a chapter of her thesis titled „Listening in Yiddish: (Un)learning to listen to Yiddish folksongs“.
