Bereits am 11. November ging die zweite MMRC Lecture erfolgreich über die Bühne – das Video der Veranstaltung auf der mdwMediathek ermöglicht es Ihnen, die Veranstaltung online nachzusehen.

Advancing Music and Minorities Research
Advancing Music and Minorities Research (AMMR) ist eine „Seed Money”-Initiative des MMRC mit dem Ziel, talentierte Forscher_innen bei der Einwerbung von Fördermitteln für ihre Projektideen zu unterstützen und die Forschung am MMRC weiter voranzubringen: Die Initiative bietet finanzielle Unterstützung und fachliche Beratung in wissenschaftlichen Fragen sowie in der Fördermittelakquise für Postdocs aus aller Welt, die beabsichtigen, ihre innovativen Projektideen im Bereich der Musik- und Minderheitenforschung zu konkurrenzfähigen Förderanträgen auszuarbeiten und bei ausgewählten Förderorganisationen einzureichen. Wenn diese Förderanträge erfolgreich sind, wird das MMRC als Forschungseinrichtung für die ehemaligen AMMR-Stipendiat_innen und ihre Forschungsprojekte fungieren.

Einsendeschluss für Anträge ist der 15. Januar 2022.
Online Launch Event
Neues Journal Music & Minorities
Music & Minorities (M&M) ist ein neues wissenschaftliches Journal, das vom MMRC herausgegeben und von mdwPress veröffentlicht wird. M&M widmet sich der wissenschaftlichen Erforschung des mehrdimensionalen Feldes, das durch die Begriffe „Musik” und „Minderheiten” eröffnet wird.
Der offizielle Starttermin für M&M ist der 6. Dezember 2021. Den Auftakt macht eine „Inaugural Collection” von Artikeln zum Thema Musik und Flucht, mit Beiträgen von Toni Shapiro-Phim, Evrim Hikmet Öğüt, Marko Kölbl und Ioannis Christidis. Ergänzt werden die Artikel durch eine Auswahl von Rezensionen aktueller Veröffentlichungen aus der Musik- und Minderheitenforschung.
MMRC und mdwPress werden den Journallaunch mit einer öffentlichen Onlinepräsentation am 6. Dezember 2021, 17:00 Uhr, feiern. Wenn Sie an der Online-Präsentation von M&M teilnehmen wollen, senden Sie eine E-Mail an mmrc@mdw.ac.at. Sie erhalten dann einen Zoom-Link für die Veranstaltung.

Queering Identity in Music: Perspectives from Ethnomusicology. The 2021 MMRC Lecture
Am 11. November 2021 fand die zweite MMRC Lecture, „Queering Identity in Music: Perspectives from Ethnomusicology”, statt. Dieses Jahr war es möglich, nicht nur über Zoom, sondern auch vor Ort im Joseph-Haydn-Saal der mdw Besucher_innen zu empfangen. Das Video der Veranstaltung ist auf der mdw-Mediathek zugänglich, auf der MMRC-Website finden Sie Fotos der Veranstaltung. Auch in der Beilage „Forschung Spezial” des Standard ist ein Artikel zur Lecture erschienen.

Seed Money Initiative for Research Project Development
Advancing Music and Minorities Research
Advancing Music and Minorities Research (AMMR) is a "seed money" initiative of MMRC aimed at supporting talented researchers in acquiring funding for their project ideas and boosting high-quality research on music and minorities at MMRC: The initiative provides financial support and expert advice on scholarly matters as well as grant acquisition for postdoctoral researchers from all around the world who intend to develop their cutting-edge project ideas in the field of music and minorities research into competitive grant applications submitted to selected funding agencies. If these funding applications are successful, MMRC will serve as the host institution of the former AMMR grantees and their research projects.

Online Launch Event
New Journal Music & Minorities
Music & Minorities (M&M) is a new open access journal edited by the MMRC and published by mdwPress. M&M is dedicated to the scholarly exploration of the multi-dimensional field opened up by the concepts of "music" and "minorities."
The journal will launch on 6 December 2021 with an inaugural collection of articles on the topic of music and forced migration, including contributions by Toni Shapiro-Phim, Evrim Hikmet Öğüt, Marko Kölbl, and Ioannis Christidis. These articles are complemented by a set of reviews of recent publications in the field of music and minorities research.
MMRC and mdwPress will celebrate the launch of M&M with a public online presentation on 6 December 2021, 5:00 pm UTC+1. If you would like to participate in the online presentation of M&M, simply send an email to mmrc@mdw.ac.at. You will then receive a Zoom link for the event.

Queering Identity in Music: Perspectives from Ethnomusicology. The 2021 MMRC Lecture
The second MMRC Lecture, "Queering Identity in Music: Perspectives from Ethnomusicology," took place on November 11, 2021. This year, it was possible to welcome attendees not only via Zoom, but also on site at mdw's Joseph Haydn Hall. The video of the event is available on the mdw media library, and photos from the event can be found on the MMRC website. An article on the event was also published in the "Forschung Spezial" supplement of the newspaper "Standard."
