GASTWISSENSCHAFTLERIN JELENA GLIGORIJEVIĆ

Jelena Gligorijević ist Popularmusikforscherin und beschäftigt sich mit Fragen von Identität, Macht und Politik in der Balkan-Popularmusik der Region des ehemaligen Jugoslawien, insbesondere Serbien.
Als Gastwissenschaftlerin am MMRC wird sie das Konzept der "Otherness" in Popularmusikpraktiken der ex-jugoslawischen Diaspora in Wien untersuchen.

VORTRAG VON ANJA BRUNNER

Das MMRC ist durch Anja Brunner, Leiterin des Forschungsprojekts "Women Musicians from Syria" am MMRC, bei der internationalen Tagung "Narrating Musicology: Fachgeschichten der Musikwissenschaft" des Instituts für Musikwissenschaft der Universität Bern vertreten.
Anja Brunners Vortrag "Musicology and its Colonial Heritage: A Plea for the Decolonisation of our Discipline" findet am 6. September um 14:30 Uhr statt. Die Tagung kann über Livestream mitverfolgt werden.

New at MMRC

GUEST RESEARCHER JELENA GLIGORIJEVIĆ

Jelena Gligorijevic is a Popular Music Studies scholar whose primary field of expertise is concerned with issues of identity, power and politics in Balkan popular music across the former Yugoslav region, notably Serbia.
As an external postdoctoral affiliate to MMRC, she will explore the idea of Otherness associated with the "Balkan difference" and its multiple expressions in popular music practices of Vienna's ex-Yugoslav diaspora.

PAPER PRESENTATION BY ANJA BRUNNER

The MMRC will be present at the international conference "Narrating Musicology: The History of Musicology" of the Institute of Musicology at the University of Bern through Anja Brunner, principal investigator of the MMRC research project "Women Musicians from Syria". Anja Brunner's talk "Musicology and its Colonial Heritage: A Plea for the Decolonisation of our Discipline" will take place on September 6 at 14.30 CET. The conference can be followed via livestream.

Edited by Ursula Hemetek, Inna Naroditskaya, and Terada Yoshitaka (MMRC Advisory Board Member), the book Music and Marginalization: Beyond the Minority-Majority Paradigm was recently published and is available online here.
