Liebe Abonnent_innen!
Hinter uns allen liegen besondere Monate. Vieles wurde durch die weltweiten Maßnahmen zur Eindämmung des Coronavirus schwieriger, so manches Projekt musste verschoben oder modifiziert werden – wir freuen uns daher umso mehr, Ihnen kurz vorstellen zu können, welche Unternehmungen am MMRC in den letzten Monaten auf einen guten Weg gebracht werden konnten.

Eine Kooperation des MMRC mit den wohnpartnern, dem Mieterbeirat des Anton-Figl-Hofs, dem Phonogrammarchiv der ÖAW und Wiener Wohnen

Einführung des wissenschaftlichen Online-Journals des MMRC
Unter der Federführung von Malik Sharif hat das Team des MMRC in den letzten Monaten das Konzept von Music & Minorities, einem wissenschaftlichen Open Access Online Journal, das vom neuen Universitätsverlag der mdw (mdwPress) herausgegeben werden wird, ausgearbeitet. Lesen Sie hier nähere Details!

Dawn Chatty zu Gast an der mdw
Am 11. November 2020, um 19:00 Uhr, wird die erste der jährlich geplanten MMRC Lectures an der mdw stattfinden. Wir freuen uns sehr, dass wir die Anthropologin Dawn Chatty, eine ausgewiesene Expertin auf dem Gebiet der Fluchtforschung, gewinnen konnten, einen Vortrag zu gestalten. Respondent wird der Ethnomusikologe Marko Kölbl sein. Die MMRC Lecture ist als dialogisches Format angelegt, in welchem das Aufeinandertreffen von Wissenschaftler_innen unterschiedlicher Disziplinen einzigartige und neue Sichtweisen auf ein gemeinsames Thema – in diesem Jahr das Thema Flucht – ermöglichen soll. Wir freuen uns schon jetzt auf Ihr Kommen!

Many things have become more difficult due to the worldwide measures introduced to control the coronavirus, many a project had to be postponed or modified – but we are all the more pleased to be able to give you a brief overview of the activities that have been put on a good track at the MMRC in recent months.

Klingender Gemeindebau
A cooperation of MMRC together with wohnpartner, the tenants' association of Anton-Figl-Hof, the Phonogrammarchiv of the Austrian Academy of Sciences, and Wiener Wohnen

MMRC Lecture
Dawn Chatty at mdw
On November 11, 2020 at 7 p.m., the first of the annually planned MMRC Lectures will take place at mdw. We are very pleased that we could win the anthropologist Dawn Chatty, a distinguished expert on the topic of forced migration, to give a lecture. The respondent will be the ethnomusicologist Marko Kölbl. The MMRC Lecture is designed as a dialogical format in which the encounter of scholars from different disciplines will allow unique and new perspectives on a common theme – this year the issue of forced migration. We are looking forward to your attendance!
