Born in Pretoria / South Africa, with French and Belgian nationality, permanent residence in Vienna since 1989.

Training for solo piano, chamber music and vocal accompaniment at the "Conservatoire Royal de Liège" (with Bernard Foccroulle, Henri Pousseur, Marcelle Mercenier and Philippe Pierlot). Scholarship holder at the Chapelle Royale Reine Elizabeth in Waterloo / Brussels (with Wieslaw Szlachta) and in London (with Peter Feuchtwanger and Marina Horak).

During her studies she participated in choir under the baton of Philippe Herreweghe.

In the years 1985 to 1989, she participated, as a pianist, in the contemporary chamber ensemble "Musiques Nouvelles" and at the Philharmonie de Liège.

Schoenberg's "Gurrelieder" aroused their interest in working with the instrument "voice" and with singers. As a result, she was also a pianist of chamber vocal ensemble "forlane" (Répertoire of 19th and 20th century) worked.

Further studies for Art-song accompaniment with Geoffrey Parsons (London), Dalton Baldwin (Nice), Erik Werba, Walter Moore and Norman Shetler (all in Vienna).

Since 1995 Joëlle Bouffa has been teaching at the Institute for singing and musical theatre of the Universität für Musik und Darstellende Kunst Wien.

Concerts in Belgium, Germany, England, France, Holland, Italy, Poland, Slovenia, Slovakia, Czech Republic and Austria.

Participation in the Festival de Flandres (Antwerp), Midi Minimes (Brussels), Festival de Musiques Contemporaines (Strasbourg), Festival de Stavelot, Festival des Nuits Musicales (Liege), Wratislavia Cantans Festucal de (Wroclaw / Poland) and Beethoven Festival Bonn.
