This international guitar competition, organised by the Hochschule für Musik und darstellende Kunst in Wien, is dedicated to the memory of Karl Scheit, who ranked amongst the most distinguished teachers at the Vienna University of Music and Performing Arts.
He had a sweeping influence on the development and popularization of modern guitar playing and is one of the most renowned personalities of guitar playing this century.
