MARK STRINGER

Mark Stringer came to international attention with his debut at the Théâtre de la Monnaie, Brussels in 1996, He has since conducted regularly in Brussels as well as Teatro Real (Madrid), Teatro Regio (Turin), Aix-en-Provence Festival, Netherlands Opera, Festival dei due mondi (Spoleto), Lincoln Center (New York), Auckland Festival. In 2007 he will participate in the Salzburg Easter Festival.

He has appeared with numerous major international orchestras, including the NHK Symphony (Tokyo), City of Birmingham Symphony, Royal Liverpool Philharmonic, the BBC Orchestras of Wales and Scotland, all major Scandinavian orchestras, as well as other orchestras in Switzerland, Luxembourg, England, France, Australia and the U.S.

From 1991 to 1996 Stringer was engaged as principal conductor at the Stadttheater in Bern.

Mark Stringer was born in Alexandria, Virginia (USA) in 1964. He studied at the Juilliard School of Music, the Tanglewood Music Centre and the Los Angeles Philharmonic Institute. His teachers include Bernstein, Ozawa, Rattle and Tilson Thomas.

His CDs of choral and orchestral works by Lili Boulanger and Magnard for Timpani Records have won many awards worldwide.
